These Terms of Service apply to the Android application ExpiryMate: Food Tracker, published under the developer display name SensorLinQ Apps.
SensorLinQ Apps is the public developer display name and personal developer brand used for the app. It is not a separate registered company. Privacy and data protection information identifies the data controller as Mathew Wolmarans trading as SensorLinQ Apps.
By using ExpiryMate: Food Tracker, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the app.
App purpose
ExpiryMate is designed to help users organise household food items, expiry dates, storage locations, reminders, item outcomes, and related household food information.
The app may include features such as:
- Food item tracking
- Expiry reminders
- Barcode scanning
- Product information lookup
- Item photos
- Household sync
- Food usage statistics
- Meal idea suggestions
- Paid features, subscriptions, Pro features, or ad-removal options
- Future household planning suggestions based on expiry and usage information
ExpiryMate is a convenience tool only.
No food safety guarantee
ExpiryMate cannot determine whether food is safe to eat.
Expiry dates, best-before dates, storage conditions, product information, reminders, and suggestions may be entered by the user, generated by the app, synced from household members, or retrieved from third-party services. This information may be incorrect, incomplete, outdated, delayed, or unavailable.
You are responsible for checking food labels, expiry dates, best-before dates, storage instructions, allergen information, packaging, smell, appearance, and applicable food safety guidance before consuming food.
Do not consume food only because ExpiryMate says it is still active, not yet expired, or suitable for use.
No medical, dietary, nutritional, or professional advice
ExpiryMate does not provide medical, dietary, nutritional, health, financial, environmental, food safety, or professional advice.
Meal ideas, food suggestions, future household planning suggestions, waste statistics, savings estimates, and diet or lifestyle tags are provided for general convenience only.
You are responsible for deciding whether any food, ingredient, meal idea, reminder, statistic, or household suggestion is suitable for you or your household.
User responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Entering accurate food item information
- Checking expiry dates and food labels
- Managing household members and invite codes
- Keeping your device secure
- Using the app in a lawful way
- Reviewing reminders and suggestions before acting on them
- Ensuring food is stored, prepared, and consumed safely
- Managing your Google Play subscription or paid feature access where applicable
You should not enter sensitive personal information into item names, notes, household names, member display names, or other app fields.
Barcode and product information
ExpiryMate may use barcode scanning and third-party product databases to retrieve product information.
Product information may include product names, brands, categories, product database links, or image links.
SensorLinQ Apps does not guarantee that third-party product information is accurate, complete, available, current, licensed for every use, or suitable for your use.
Product images and product data from third-party databases remain subject to the terms, licences, and policies of those third-party services.
Item photos
ExpiryMate may allow users to take or display item photos.
User-taken item photos are intended to remain local on the user’s device.
SensorLinQ Apps does not store user-taken item photos on its own servers.
If product images are retrieved from a third-party product database, the app may use or store a link to the third-party image so that the image can be displayed again or retrieved by another device in the same household.
Household sync
ExpiryMate may allow users to create or join a shared household.
When household sync is enabled, household members may be able to view and update shared food item information.
You should only share household invite codes with people you trust.
SensorLinQ Apps is not responsible for disputes between household members, incorrect item updates made by household members, unwanted access caused by sharing invite codes with the wrong person, or decisions made by household members based on shared item information.
If you join a household, information you add to the shared household may be visible to other members of that household.
Inactive household sync data
Household sync is intended for active household use. To keep the service reliable and avoid retaining inactive data unnecessarily, ExpiryMate may mark inactive households as dormant or pending deletion after extended periods without recorded activity. Server-side household sync data may be permanently deleted if a household remains inactive according to the retention periods described in the ExpiryMate Privacy Policy and Data Deletion information.
Those periods are currently 180 days without recorded activity before a household may be marked dormant, 365 days without recorded activity before a household may be marked pending deletion, and a further 30 days pending deletion before server-side household sync data may be permanently deleted.
If server-side household sync data is permanently deleted, it may not be recoverable. Users remain responsible for maintaining any separate records they need outside the app.
Reminders, notifications, statistics, and app features
Expiry reminders and notifications are convenience features only. Users remain responsible for checking food labels, storage conditions, allergens, packaging, smell, appearance, expiry dates, best-before dates, and applicable food safety guidance before consuming food.
Statistics, insights, waste information, meal ideas, and future household planning suggestions are informational convenience features and should not be treated as professional, food safety, financial, environmental, medical, dietary, nutritional, or health advice.
Current app features may include shopping lists, storage zones, freshness states, expiring soon states, expired states, ads, and optional upgrades that remove ads, increase limits, or unlock additional features depending on region and availability.
Future household planning features
ExpiryMate may add future household planning features that use food item, expiry, usage, and household history data to suggest useful household actions.
These suggestions may be based on items that are expiring soon, frequently used, consumed, discarded, expired, or missing from household item history.
These suggestions are optional convenience features and should be reviewed by the user before acting on them.
SensorLinQ Apps does not guarantee that suggestions are accurate, necessary, suitable, cost-effective, complete, or available at all times.
Meal idea suggestions
ExpiryMate may provide meal idea suggestions based on items expiring soon.
Meal ideas are not full recipes and are not cooking instructions.
Users are responsible for checking ingredients, allergens, suitability, food safety, preparation methods, storage conditions, and personal dietary requirements before preparing or consuming food.
Cuisine tags, ingredient tags, and diet or lifestyle tags are provided only for filtering and organisation. They should not be treated as medical, nutritional, dietary, or health advice.
Advertising
ExpiryMate displays ads using third-party advertising services such as Google AdMob for users on the free plan or other ad-supported versions of the app.
Ads may be personalised or non-personalised depending on user choices, location, applicable law, consent settings, and third-party advertising settings.
Users may be able to remove ads by purchasing an eligible paid feature, subscription, or ad-removal option where available.
SensorLinQ Apps is not responsible for the content of third-party ads, external websites, products, services, or pages reached through ads.
Paid features, subscriptions, and ad removal
ExpiryMate may offer paid features, subscriptions, Pro features, or ad-removal options.
Paid features may include, for example, access to Pro features, removal of ads, higher item limits, household-related features, barcode-related features, additional storage locations, advanced reminders, statistics, or other premium functionality shown in the app before purchase.
All prices, billing periods, renewal terms, trial terms if applicable, and included benefits will be displayed before purchase in the app or through Google Play.
Purchases and subscriptions made through the Android app are processed by Google Play. SensorLinQ Apps does not receive or store users’ full payment card details.
Google Play subscriptions are generally for an indefinite term and are charged at the start of each billing period according to the subscription terms, such as monthly, yearly, or another billing period, unless cancelled.
If a trial offer is accepted, the first paid billing period may begin automatically at the end of the trial unless the subscription is cancelled before the trial period expires.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled. Users can cancel a subscription at any time through Google Play. When a subscription is cancelled, access normally continues until the end of the current billing period, unless Google Play or applicable law provides otherwise.
To manage or cancel a subscription, users should use Google Play subscription management for the Google Account used to make the purchase. This is usually available through:
Google Play -> Payments & subscriptions -> Subscriptions
or through the subscription management options provided by Google Play.
If there are payment issues with a subscription renewal, Google Play may retry payment, provide a grace period, place the subscription on account hold, or cancel the subscription according to Google Play’s applicable policies and the subscription configuration.
Refunds, cancellations, renewal handling, payment issues, payment methods, and subscription management are subject to Google Play’s applicable terms, policies, and the user’s Google Play account settings.
Google Play may provide refunds in some cases depending on the purchase type, timing, payment method, location, and applicable law. SensorLinQ Apps may assist with purchase-related questions where possible, but Google Play policies and systems may control the final handling of purchases, renewals, cancellations, and refunds.
If a paid feature, subscription, or ad-removal entitlement cannot be verified due to technical issues, account mismatch, connectivity issues, Google Play service issues, platform limitations, suspected misuse, or service operation issues, access to the paid feature may be delayed or unavailable until the entitlement can be verified.
Paid features may change over time. However, SensorLinQ Apps will not intentionally remove access that a user has already paid for during an active paid period, unless required for legal, security, platform, policy, technical, or service operation reasons.
App availability
We aim to keep ExpiryMate useful and reliable, but we do not guarantee that the app, sync service, barcode lookup, product information, ads, paid features, or entitlement verification will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device.
Features may change, be added, be removed, or be updated over time.
Some features may require internet access, third-party services, Android permissions, Google Play services, household sync, subscription verification, or server availability.
User data and privacy
Your use of ExpiryMate is also governed by the ExpiryMate Privacy Policy. Data deletion information is available on the ExpiryMate Data Deletion Request page.
The Privacy Policy explains how the app handles local data, household sync data, barcode lookup, item photos, advertising, paid features, subscription verification, third-party services, and future household planning features.

- Reverse engineer, attack, overload, or abuse the service
- Upload or enter harmful, illegal, abusive, offensive, sensitive, or misleading content
- Use the app in a way that could damage SensorLinQ Apps, other users, household members, or third-party services
- Attempt to bypass subscription, entitlement, ad-removal, or Pro feature restrictions
Intellectual property
ExpiryMate, including its app design, code, branding, text, layout, original content, and related materials, is owned by or licensed to SensorLinQ Apps.
You may use the app for personal household use according to these Terms.
You may not copy, resell, redistribute, modify, or create derivative works from the app except where permitted by law or by an applicable open-source licence.
Third-party product data, product images, trademarks, brand names, and logos remain the property of their respective owners.
Third-party services
ExpiryMate may rely on third-party services for advertising, consent management, barcode lookup, product data, product images, app distribution, payments, subscription management, entitlement verification, and platform functionality.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
SensorLinQ Apps is not responsible for third-party service availability, data accuracy, content, policies, external websites, product information, payment handling, subscription handling, or refund decisions controlled by third-party providers.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where such limitation or exclusion is not permitted by law, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or any mandatory consumer rights that cannot be excluded.
ExpiryMate is a convenience tool only. Users remain responsible for checking food safety, expiry dates, storage conditions, allergens, product labels, and suitability before consuming food.
Termination
You may stop using ExpiryMate at any time.
We may suspend or limit access to sync features, paid features, or other service features if necessary to protect the service, prevent abuse, comply with law, address security issues, investigate misuse, or meet platform requirements.
Uninstalling the app may remove local app data from your device. Deleting local app data does not delete server-side household data unless the relevant server-side leave or deletion action is also used. Synced household data may remain on the server or on other household members' devices unless deleted through available app functions, automatic inactive-household retention, or a privacy request.
Cancelling a subscription through Google Play does not necessarily delete local or synced app data. Subscription cancellation, renewal, and access duration are handled according to Google Play policies and the user’s Google Play account settings.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in the user’s country of residence provide otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights that users may have under applicable mandatory consumer protection laws.
